My Mom can’t be having a stroke!

“Kaleigh, I need the thing!”

“Mom, I am not Kaleigh; I am Miranda and what is the thing.”

“Kaleigh, I am cold and need the spoon to cover up.”

“Mom, my name is not Kaleigh are you ok?”

This is how the conversation went while my mom was having a stroke. She did not have slurred speech, she had no face droop and she was able to move her arms and legs appropriately. She just suddenly started saying strange things.

NOT ALL STROKES HAVE THE CLASSIC SIGNS OR SYMPTOMS. The American Heart Association has listed some symptoms that appear separately or in combination with the classic signs. Click here to visit their site.

MAY is Stroke awareness month.

Take the time to learn the many signs of a stroke. Call 911 IMMEDIATELY at any sign of a STROKE because prompt treatment may make the difference between life or death.
My Mom had a long recovery but is a survivor. I am able to hug her today because of God and some very smart doctors.
